PRETTY THING
Nobody expected a pandemic that would affect the entire world. Hanna Roberts didn’t imagine COVID-19 would reach their small village. But with schools closed her children would be safe – wouldn’t they?
For Hanna it was work as usual in a home for the elderly, despite not having the required protective equipment. Work soon became scarce for her husband Owen, a handyman. Money was tight and they had to juggle childcare between themselves.
As Hanna’s father was diabetic, her parents had to isolate at home. Hanna’s eccentric mother took to phoning constantly.
Her sister Dawn, a divorced mother of two, was already a nervous wreck. How would she cope?
Fortunately Hanna and Owen’s sense of humour hadn’t deserted them, and there were still some ridiculous things to laugh at.
Meanwhile news reports showed increasing numbers of infections, hospitalisations and deaths in the United Kingdom. But surely nobody close to home would become ill or die – would they?
Published in 2021, Pretty Thing is available from Amazon in paperback and for Kindle.
